A two day clinic understanding the shoeing plan including stratagies for foot trimming and “trim & make 2 fit clinic” shoe making for sport horses on a six week shoeing cycle.

The clinic will include theoretical and practical sessions on the need for appropriate foot balance protocols to maximise performance and soundness.

Attendees will be divided into novice and advanced groups for practical shoemaking and application sessions with a maximum student tutor ratio 1:5.

Delegates should bring with them suitable tools (full farriers tool kit) and materials (20x10mm, 22x10mm 25x 8mm 25x10mm) for shoemaking sessions.

All sessions will be translated into Italian  with notes and handouts being provided.

8:00 – Essential tool maintainance (Demonstration) followed by practical

10:00 – Calculating shoe stock length accuratly (Lecture)

10:30 – Basic Shoemaking Protocol – Front Shoe (Demonstration) followed by practical

12:30 – Lunch

1:30 – Basic Hoof Trimming Protocol (Demonstration / Lecture)

2:30 – Basic Hoof Trimming Protocol (Practical)

3:15 – Shoemaking “Make 2 Fit (Demonstration)

4:00 – Shoemaking “Make 2 Fit” (Practical Session)

6:00-  Feedback and Briefing

6:15-  Finsh

8:00 – The use of “Bar Shoes” (Lecture)

9:00 – Constructing the straight bar shoe (Lecture / Demonstration)

10:00 – Constructing the straight bar shoe (Practical)

12:00 – Lunch

1:00 – “Make 2 Fit” Straight Bar She (Demonstration) followe by practical session fitting to cadaver feet.

4:00 – Break

4:30 – Basic Concepts of Static Foot Balance (Lecture)
