SUMMARY:Ula Krzanowska - The Hoof Architect Feb 2024
DESCRIPTION:Current hoof trimming protocols are currently utilizing a two-dimensional paradigm of trimming to the longitudinal axis of the lower limb. Ula Krzanowska “THE HOOF ARCHITECT”\, brings a new but fundamental approach to understanding and addressing the nature of individual form of the hoof capsule. Ula Krzanowska “THE HOOF ARCHITECT” will explore a three-dimensional approach to assessing hoof form accounting for conformational challenges that directly influence both form and function of the equine hoof. This approach will enable farriers and hoof care professionals alike to determine what could be considered normal form for an individual. \nUla Krzanowska “THE HOOF ARCHITECT” holds an MSc in Architecture as well as an illustrator and farrier combined. Ula brings an understanding of the physics of normal and abnormal loading on a given three-dimensional structure which is easily applied to the equine limb and explains many of the common anomalies hoof care professionals commonly encounter in their daily practice.\nUla Krzanowska “THE HOOF ARCHITECT” will be presenting on hoof strength\, explaining common issues\, mistakes and different trimming whilst addressing not only the whole hoof but whole horse concept of foot care.. \nNoted researcher\, tutor\, and clinician Dr. Mark Caldwell PhD FWCF will put a range of searching questions on the nature of hoof capsule morphology seeking out explanations for common disorders and pathologies. \nFrequently Asked Questions\nDoes this event qualify for CPD or CE credits? SUMMARY:Farriery - A multi practitioner approach to farriery treatment protocols
DESCRIPTION:Description. \nFollowing on from our recent functional anatomy webinar where we explored the connectivity between foot and skeletal and muscular structure it is clear that the hoof and the whole horse are inextricably linked\, they effect and are affected by each other. \nIn this interactive webinar Dr. Mark Caldwell PhD FWCF discusses the hoof and its whole horse connectivity with manipulative therapy expert Ve-Ma-Therapy Dr Martina Neidhart. This presentation will complement the discussion on the effect that hoof care can have on athletic performance. The connection between the structural soundness of the hoof and the integrity of the rest of the body of the horse\, is undeniable. \nOur guest speaker Martina Neidhart\, Dr. med. vet. Veterinary Consultant runs her own succesful Veterinary Manual therapy practice will explore the connections between farriery protocols\, posture\, lameness and pathologies of the equine musculoskeletal system. \nWe are excited to welcome Martina Neidhart to a live interview\, to discuss the connection between the hoof and the body\, and how we can influence these connections and relationships. Growing up with dogs and around horses in Switzerland\, Martina gained experience in rehabilitation and manual therapy in various clinics and institutions in Switzerland and abroad (Europe\, North America\, Australia) during her studies as a veterinarian in Bern/CH and Budapest/HU – and even more intensively afterwards. \nThe more she learned about it\, the more fascinated she became by applied neurology and biomechanics and their applications with 4-legged patients. Martina believes biomechanics are the basis of all movement and that as such any deviation from the ideal is later associated with pathologies. Based on her extensive experience Martina is a passionate advocate that prevention is the best cure! \nThis event qualifies for CPD \nAll attendees will recieve a download link to the recorded event

SUMMARY:Myth Busters with Uno Yxklinten - Hoof Mechanics Made Practical
DESCRIPTION:📅 Date: Thursday 12th March 2026 7pm (GMT)🕖 Format: Live online webinar via Zoom🎤 Presenter: Uno Yxklinten \nTickets available on Eventbrite \nAbout the Webinar\n Hoof Mechanics Made Practical – ” What you can do with it tomorrow” \n\nOverview\n\n\n\n\n\nUno Yxklinten translates complex hoof mechanics and acronyms into practical trimming and shoeing knowledge that improves performance\n\n\n\nModern hoof care discussions are increasingly framed around mechanical terminology and acronyms such as P.O.B.\, C.O.R.\, C.O.A.\, and C.O.P. While these terms are widely referenced\, their practical meaning and relevance to trimming and shoeing decisions is often poorly understood. \nIn this HoofFlix webinar\, Uno Yxklinten translates the core concepts from his PhD research on equine foot mechanics into clear\, practical\, common-sense language. Rather than abstract theory\, this session focuses on helping hoof care providers understand what these concepts actually represent\, how they influence force distribution and hoof function\, and why they matter in everyday practice. \nThe webinar will explore: \n\nThe mechanical meaning behind commonly used hoof-care acronyms\nHow these concepts relate directly to trimming and shoeing decisions\nWhere misinterpretation commonly occurs in modern farriery discussions\nHow improved mechanical understanding supports consistency\, performance\, and equine welfare\n\nAs with recent HoofFlix webinars featuring Professor Chris Pollitt\, this session is designed to bridge the gap between science and practice\, empowering hoof care professionals with knowledge they can confidently apply. \nPresenter Bio \nUno Yxklinten is a highly respected Swedish farrier and researcher with a specialist focus on equine foot mechanics and applied biomechanics. Working at the intersection of academic research and practical farriery\, Uno has conducted detailed scientific investigations into how forces act within the equine foot and how trimming and shoeing interventions influence those forces. \nThrough his PhD research\, Uno has become known for his ability to translate complex mechanical principles into practical\, usable insights for hoof care professionals. His work is driven by the goal of improving technical understanding\, decision-making\, and ultimately equine welfare\, by ensuring that scientific knowledge is both accurate and accessible. \n \nFrequently Asked Questions\nIs this webinar CPD certificated?Yes. All attendees will receive a CPD certificate for 2 hours of continuing professional development. \nWill the webinar be recorded?Yes. A full recording will be emailed to all registered attendees after the live event\, even if you’re unable to attend in real time. \nIs live transcription available?Yes. The webinar will be live-transcribed within Zoom\, with multiple language options available to support international attendees. \nDo I need to attend live to receive the CPD certificate? No. Registration provides access to the recording and CPD certification. \n

SUMMARY:Laminitis Myth Buster Series Laminitis: Myth vs Pathology
DESCRIPTION:Laminitis: Myth vs Pathology The ultimate myth-busting session with Professor Pollitt will explode many of the issues in equine laminitis.\n\n\n\nTickets available via Eventbrite here\nLaminitis is one of the most devastating diseases affecting domesticated horses\, responsible for the second-highest number of equine euthanasia cases worldwide. Despite decades of research\, misconceptions about its causes\, mechanisms\, and treatment still persist. This final session gives attendees the confidence to separate fact from fiction – permanently. \nIn this The ultimate myth-busting session. \nThe Myths addressed by Professor Pollitt include: \n\n“Laminitis starts in the sole.”\nPoor farrier trims cause P3 rotation\n“Only fat ponies get laminitis.”\n“Once the horse is sound\, the laminitis is gone.”\n“Rotation only happens in severe cases.”\n“You can fix laminitis with trimming or shoeing alone.”\n\nThis final session gives attendees the confidence to separate fact from fiction—permanently. \nThis program is an extraordinary opportunity: Pollitt rarely presents an extended\, public-access educational series of this depth. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe HoofFlix Myth Buster Series\, sponsored by 3D Anatomize\, brings unprecedented clarity to this complex disease \nThis is the only public-access CPD series in which Pollitt will personally dismantle long-held myths and translate nearly 50 years of clinical and scientific research into clear\, practical guidance. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Professor Chris Pollitt Professor Chris Pollitt BVSc PhD\, is one of the most influential figures in modern equine veterinary science. His landmark research at the University of Queensland revolutionised global understanding of laminitis—including: \n\nThe discovery of lamellar stretch and separation mechanisms\nVascular\, inflammatory\, endocrinological\, and mechanical pathways of laminitis\nThe hoof capsule–lamellar interface in both healthy and diseased feet\n3D mapping of lamellar anatomy\nDevelopment of digital venography for laminitic assessment\nGroundbreaking studies on insulin dysregulation and metabolic laminitis\n\nHe has authored or co-authored hundreds of peer-reviewed papers\, mentored numerous researchers\, and remains a globally respected authority whose work is foundational to every modern text on laminitis. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWho Should Attend – And WhyThis series is essential for: \n✔ Farriers\nGain a deep\, anatomical and biomechanical understanding that improves trimming\, shoeing\, and long-term laminitis rehabilitation. \n✔ Veterinarians & Vet Students\nSharpen clinical diagnosis\, improve radiographic interpretation\, and update treatment strategies based on the very latest evidence. \n✔ Hoofcare Practitioners & Paraprofessionals\nBuild confidence in assessment\, imaging interpretation\, and real-world management. \n✔ Horse Owners\, Trainers & Riders\nUnderstand what laminitis really is\, how it develops\, and what early warning signs should never be ignored. \n✔ Equine Educators\nUse the most accurate research available to teach anatomy\, pathology\, and hoof care. \nIf you own\, care for\, or work with horses\, you cannot afford to misunderstand laminitis.\nThis series gives you the most accurate\, scientifically backed information available anywhere. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLearning Outcomes Attendees will leave this session with the ability to: \n\nRecognise early laminitis warning signs with far greater accuracy\nUnderstand the true anatomy and function of the healthy hoof\nExplain exactly what happens during laminitis—not the myths\nDistinguish between acute\, developing\, and chronic laminitis\nInterpret radiographs and venograms with greater clarity\nUnderstand lamellar biomechanics and their failure points\nMake informed decisions about ongoing management and treatment\nEvaluate shoeing\, trimming\, and rehabilitation protocols critically\nCommunicate confidently with vets\, farriers\, and owners using correct terminology\nIdentify research-supported strategies—and spot misinformation instantly\n\nThis is not a surface-level overview.\nThis is Pollitt’s lifetime of research explained in clear\, practical terms. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrequently Asked Questions \n1.
